DISC is one of the most commonly used profiling tools in business today. It is estimated that 75% of the Fortune 500 companies utilise DISC in their businesses. DISC examines HOW we behave, communicate and interact. Since a person's behaviour is a necessary and integral part of who they are, research suggests that the most effective people are those who understand themselves, both their strengths and weaknesses.  

The DISC Model was developed by William Moulton Marston. Marston published “The Emotions of Normal People” in which he described the theory we use today. DISC, put simply, examines observable human behaviour. DISC is a universal, neutral and silent language we can use to learn more about, build rapport with and communicate more effectively with others.

The DISC language is made up of four core behavioural traits (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance). Frequently, these four dimensions are discussed in terms of extremes, but it is important to recognise that a peron is not exclusively a "High D" or "High S," and people should not be categorised as purely one or the other. What makes us each behaviourally different and unique is the varying intensity at which we display each of the four characteristics.

DISC is a simple but powerful tool to use in developing teams, communication programs, conflict resolution, sales effectiveness, and any other training associated with creating more effective relationships.
